| [Note: You need to read Part 1 below first!! No cheating!] So... I'm friggin' nervous as heck but I figure I should just go for it. So I thought about actually running, like running-running but how awkward would that be?! I was actually wearing heels that day and not just chunky wedge heels, but like heels-heels. So I walked "briskly" - fast enough to catch up to him, but slow enough that I can walk quietly. I see him up ahead walking along the path - the path curved to the right and he disappeared. But I saw him turn the right, so he couldn't have gone anywhere else - I didn't see him enter the building on the left so I know I'm okay. A few seconds later, I get to the curve I see there's a street up ahead but no dude. He's nowhere in sight, so it's okay to run now so I run to the street and when I get to the sidewalk, I turn to the right, turn to the left, but frigg, where is he?! Crap, I think I lost him! I gotta think quick - left, right, left, right? I have a 50/50 chance. I close my eyes and choose left. It's a funny thing, those 50/50 odds. Somehow it always feels like you're always getting jipped, always ending up with the short stick. I guess I shoulda gone right. I'm sorta devastated now... after all, what kind of love story is that?! Oh well, I guess this is the part where the girl decides to take a slow walk through a park, as she reminisces about what could have been.... * Sigh *... So I take a walk too, but through the Harvard campus, on my way back to stadium, all by my lonesome... * Sigh *.... I take advantage of the alone-time I have, since the boys are at the game, I'm already late, and I don't mind missing any of it. I've gotta walk back through most of the campus to get to the stadium anyway so I take my time. I'm walking... oh, look at that, how nice, a girl walking out of her dorm saying bye to a friend, bye friend, see you in class later!:
And then oh, looky there, a bike rack:
Wait a sec, REEEEEwind. Was that a bike rack?!?! Dude, it's all coming together... I totally messed up on this one. I was supposed to get the bike first!! If you recall, the girl always rides a friggin bike! Now I'm thinking, how the frigg do I get a bike?? When all of a sudden, and I swear to g-o-d this is for real, I see this:
Yes way! It's a... (wait for it)... a (pause) "sign" (puhahahaha!): If I get the bike, then I'll get him. I think everything's going good now, but then I almost have a heart attack. I'm walking down the path and I see something shining bright, and it's on the ground, nestled between blades of grass:
A perfect acorn. Could my fate be any clearer?? All the broken acorns from earlier today represented all my past/failed relationships. But this perfect acorn represents the perfect man that I've always dreamed of!! (^^)v Hahaha... j/k about that one, I totally set that up. 메롱. ㅋㅋㅋ Anyway, to turn a long story short(er), I wasn't able to reunite with Him, and just made my way over to the game and joined the boys to watch my first football game ever. Needless to say, they were all very disappointed with my story. But oh well, they forgave and forgot and we watched the game:
BUT THEN!!... We had time to kill before we had to leave Harvard so... one last try! We headed back to the law school and did another walk through. I led them through the path that I took, the building I'm sure he didn't go into, and then left turn that I made. And as we stood at that corner, I (or we?) wonder if that dormitory building on the left is... maybe his?? Hey, well why not check - after all, we drove 8 hours to get there, might as well give it all we got. So, I went in and got through door #1: I hope no one's looking...
But d'oh! Door #2: that sucks.
And it's locked. * Sigh *:
By now, we're all pretty emotionally drained by all of this. BUT!! We try to think like logical, rational Korean drama stars. We figure it's almost dinner time and the dude will have to eat, and he said "jjambbong" earlier so he's definately having Korean food tonight, so our next stop?! A Korean restaurant, of course! We find one pretty close by (he probably doesn't drive so close is good) and we all know that this is the last chance we have. We park, walk up to the restaurant, pull open the door, and OMG OMG OMG. OMG...
| If you asked me what I thought about UGG boots up until 1 week ago, I would've said: UGH. They're not so pretty, ya know. But THEN, I tried my friends' boots on and I was like OMG. They are sooooo comfy and cozy! So I want these for Christmas:
But I have no one to buy them for me (*sniff, sniff*), so I called Brown's shoe store today to put a pair on hold.... but they have NONE left, and although they'll be getting another shipment, they're not getting more until January. That sucks. I'm sad. UGH. [P.S. LSI: Harvard, Part II - coming soon]. ^^v
| Okay, I know it's been like forever since I got back, but c'mon, I'm a busy girl and haven't had the time to post. But I've finally gotten off my lazy @$$... (I mean... finished all my work... :P) and so here it is. The Harvard trip report. Basically, we (Terence, Dan, and Lawrence) drove to Boston to see some Harvard football game cuz Dan used to coach football and his former student is like some super star MVP, play some cards at the casinos, and in their words, for me to find my future husband. Lots of things happened on the drive there, at Foxwoods Casino, etc. but for those details, contact Dan and he'll send you his trip report. For the story you've been waiting for, read on.. So, it's the morning before the game, and we decide to scope out the campus. It's a beautiful, beautiful Saturday and we're feeling great. On the way to the main campus, my faithful crew is on the hunt for eligible bachelors. Ya know, a.k.a. The One, Him, or as I like to call him, 그이. ^^ 푸핫! Too bad they have no discretion and decide to yell out, "Hey you, you're the ONE!" to any random Asian dude they see (how embarassing...) but anyway... I figure Harvard guys are like smart 'n stuff, right, so our first stop: the bookstore. "Um, excuse me, do you know where I can find the Korean boys?" Well, no luck at the bookstore. Ended up buying a Harvard logo sticker that I was supposed to scrapbook, like I'll ever get to it. Anyway, the bookstore was just a warm up anyway. Everyone knows we gotta go to the law school first, which is exactly where we headed next. So we head over there and take a walk, just like everyone does in the Harvard brochures and catalogues!
We walk and walk, and I get all hung up over these acorns that I see everywhere. I can't explain it, but I see all these acorns and even hear them dropping from the trees -- kadoonk. But every time I look down, they're ALL broken and shattered! I mean, I know it sounds retarded but I begin to wonder... could this be a sign? But a sign of what?! Maybe it's the cyworld acorns (aka 도토리) that's gotten to me. Anyway, the boys yell at me to stop picking up acorns and that I'll never find The One by looking at the ground and I figure they're probably right. So we try to get into the library for some more hunting, but oops, you need a library card. So after wandering about, we realize that we have to get back to the stadium in order to catch the game. I've lost hope that I'll find him here. I never really believed it anyway.
BUT THEN... I swear to g-o-d, we're walking that (-->) way, and this Asian dude is walking this (<--) way toward us, then passes by us, and then my all-male entourage each turns around (<--) (imagine it in slow-mo with their jaws dropping like their just saw a hot blonde chick). And then each of the boys all of a sudden sound like 13-year old girls, squealing under their breath: "Ohhh my gosh, heeee's the one!" "Janet, it's him!!!" "Look! A messenger bag!!" (Hahaha... to be fair, they weren't that bad.) But we ALL know he's Korean cuz he's talking on his phone and I heard him say "blah blah blah... jjam-bbong..." Jjam-bbong! For sure he's Korean! And now he's walking away (continuing <--) and my buddies are causing a scene because they each know that he's the one, I'm turning red, and I start walking the opposite way (-->). But then! One of them says, "Janet, he's turning around, he's turning around" and I'm like, "Whatever" and he's like, "No, really, he just stopped all of a sudden and turned toward us... But now he's turning back!" I freak out and avoid any eye contact with anyone because I'm retarded like that. They say I have to approach him, that's why I came to Harvard. But I'm a loser, and don't go after him. But what did they think, I was really gonna chase after some total stranger, just because my whole fairytale is unfolding before my very eyes?! No, seriously, even as much as I love to imagine these things, it's just... so... oh, I dunno! So from a distance, we all sigh ( * sigh* ) as I let him just walk away... 에휴... (that's really him!) (머싰지?!)
But wait! It doesn't end there! My boys are good, trusty and supportive friends and they say I have to chase him now because if I don't, I'll regret it forever, this trip would have been a waste of everyones time, I'll never get married, and will have to live with umma forever. Do I go?! Should I go?! But what will I say?! "어... 저기여... 혹시... 그이?!" So confused...!! But then, I feel a conviction and so I decide to be un-Janet for once and I tell them to go ahead to the game without me. That's right, I'm going after him!! (still him!)
So I went after him, and the boys headed back to the game. I joined them about 2 hours later with the rest of the story. And just as it was then, this ending is to be continued...
| Okay, sorry, I haven't posted my Love Story in Harvard story. But wait for it - it's good! But I'm going to NYC this weekend and so I'll have even more stories when I get back on Monday. Just so you know, I DID meet The One in Harvard (I have pictures too)! And I'm going to NY to meet him again... maybe (probably) he's at a law conference at Columbia or NYU Law... and I'll be at the coffee shop reading my book when he passes by the window and spots me (again), turns around (again) and then, well, we'll go from there.... eeeeek!! ^^ Pray for good things! See you all soon~ ^^v | | |
| Okay, this is the big weekend. I'm going to Harvard!! There's some football game going on, but I've got plans of my own... As they say, I'm going to jji-guh a drama... Love Story in Harvard. This is how it goes: "Once upon a time, there was a girl named Janet... and then she went to Harvard... and then Janet's mom finally lived happily ever after. The end." Anyway, I'll explain more when I get back. I gotta go shopping now!! Need to look like this: Or... maybe this?!
